According to the highly reputable Reptile Database, there are over 3,315 species of snakes. That means when Noah brought two of every breed on board his blessed Ark, there were 6,630 of those critters slithering across the deck floor. Hopefully they weren't on their shedding periods.

Any worry that director Darren Aronofsky may not stay faithful to the massive amount of cold blooded passengers that would theoretically been stored on the boat in his epic Noah has now been molted away, thanks to the first image of inside the legendary boat courtesy of cinematographer Matthew Libatique's Twitpic.

"Pre lighting on the holiest day of the year," tweeted Libatique, showing off a high contrast photo full of snakes (and a single alligator — where is its significant other?!). The film follows the first official shot of Russell Crowe has the titular Biblical figure, who is rumored to be more of a blockbuster action hero in Aronofsky's revisionist interpretation of the classic story.
